Strut Allograft Proximal Ulna Reconstruction in Revision TotalElbow Arthroplasty

چکیده

The increasing frequency of joint arthroplasty has led to an increasing requirement for revision surgery. When treating an aseptically failed elbow arthroplasty one of the main issues is poor or absent proximal ulna bone stock, due to osteolysis. We report our experience with the use of strut allograft reconstruction of the proximal ulna, as an adjunctive procedure to non-custom revision total elbow arthroplasty. Our aim was to better define indications, outcomes, and complications of this specific technique in an aseptically failed prosthetic elbow arthroplasty population . Materials and Methods

Proximal femoral allografts in revision hip arthroplasty.

We followed prospectively 69 patients with 78 proximal femoral allografts performed for revision of total hip arthroplasty for an average of 36 months (range 29 to 68). Large fragment proximal femoral allografts and cortical strut allografts were successful in 85%. Grafts smaller than 3 cm in length (calcar grafts) were clinically successful in 81%, but 50% underwent significant radiographic re...

The management of complex periprosthetic humeral fractures: a case series of strut allograft augmentation, and a review of the literature

There is little published discussion on the management of postoperative periprosthetic humeral fractures where rotator cuff function is poor, the bone stock is dwindling or both. This is a phenomenon increasingly seen in the older, more osteoporotic population and presents an interesting challenge especially in when faced with these patients with poor bone quality. We present the treatment of t...

Proximal Femoral Allograft for Major Segmental Femoral Bone Loss: A Systematic Literature Review

As the indications for total hip arthroplasty increase, the prevalence of extensive proximal femoral bone loss will increase as a consequence of massive osteolysis, stress shielding and multiple revisions. Proximal femoral bone stock deficiency provides a major challenge for revision hip arthroplasty and is likely to account for a significant future caseload. Various surgical techniques have be...

Adamantinoma of the Forearm: A Chronologic Presentation of a Slow-Growing Malignancy

The purpose of this report is to present a unique case of an uncommon tumor. Adamantinomas are inherently rare, low-grade malignant primary bone tumors that almost always involve the tibia. Although cases have been reported of these tumors involving the long bones of the upper extremity, we present an instance in which both bones of the forearm were affected with documented radiographic changes...

Revision of total hip arthroplasty using an anterior cortical window, extensive strut allografts, and an impaction graft: follow-up study.

PURPOSE To report the outcome of revised total hip arthroplasty procedures involving an anterior cortical window, extensive strut allografts, and an Exeter impaction graft. METHOD Eight patients (9 hips) with a mean age of 58 years underwent revision of total hip arthroplasty using the Exeter hip impaction graft system and strut allografts between 1995 and 1998. An extensile anterior approach...
